Administrative History


Oglethorpe University was chartered by the state of Georgia in 1835. The college was named after James Edward Oglethorpe, the founder of the state of Georgia. The campus was relocated from Midway, Georgia after the Civil War and the present location in Atlanta was established in 1913. The administrative records date from 1914 to current date.



The arrangement is by series and includes: Series I – Annual Reports of the university; Series II –Strategic plans and self-studies; Series III- Division reports; Series IV- Financial reports; Series V- Minutes; Series VI- Miscellaneous.



The records consist of information related to the university’s administrative life cycle.
